Luckie's Sisters
Yoshi
Yoshi came into my life through the back door. After getting my not-quite-black cat TK, I was still wanting a black cat. My best friend, Marianne, was fostering a cat and her newborn kittens as a test to see whether her husband’s allergies could survive having a cat. One of the kittens was black. So, I drove down to her house to meet this kitten. The four kittens were adorable. Three were calico and the fourth was a solid black, long haired boy. He was basically a fuzzball. The mommy cat was a very sweet cat and my friend had fallen in love with her. Knowing how hard it would be for her to send her back to the shelter when the fostering was over, and also thinking she was a pretty cool cat, I told Marianne that if she would pay to have her fixed, I would adopt her as well as her son. She was thrilled. So, I ended up with two new cats instead of one. Yoshi and her son were incestuously inseparable for a long time. She allowed him to nurse until he was bigger than she was. She groomed him constantly. The boy and I never bonded, but my roommate at the time loved him. When that living arrangement ended, my roommate took the boy and I kept his mom.
Yoshi is my low maintenance kitty. She is affectionate, but does not ask for attention very often. She will let you do just about anything to her. I can pick her up and hold her like a baby. She sits in my lap and purrs while I trim her nails. She’s very easy going and the only demand she ever makes is to fill her food dish—and she’s quite adamant about that! Yoshi has expanded over the years and is a big 12 pounder now. She purrs constantly, and is so loud that you can usually hear her in the next room.
She is more likely to try to interact with the other cats and has a strange love/hate relationship with her “step-sister”, Lucie. One minute they’ll be grooming each other and in the blink of an eye they’ll be hissing and batting at each other.
Yoshi is a great cat, and loves to meet new people—who always think that she’s great.
